Border Post article
I asked an 88 year old former journalist, a resident of Stanthorpe and a woman I greatly admire, to read my book and write a review for our local newspaper, The Border Post.

Enid Hamilton's hand written letter

Her words
Enid’s words were published in The Border Post newspaper on Thursday 23rd July. I had already hired the Stanthorpe Art Gallery as a venue, arranged for Claudia from Thunderbolt Farm to provide finger food and for wines to be served from Harrington Glen Wines. I had posted out over one hundred invitations for the book launch on Tuesday 28th July.

Fay and books
I nervously clenched a glass of water while I waited for the invited guests to arrive. Finally, I had to step up to the lectern and welcome the guests.

I was followed at the lectern By Lt. Col (rtd) Miles Farmer.

Lt. Col. (rtd) Miles Farmer
The main speaker of the night was our district member of Queensland State Parliament, Lawrence Springborg, who spoke highly of the contribution that Eberhard and I have made to tourism on the Granite Belt. He also praised my writing ability saying how easily his attention was claimed as the story unfolded.

The formalities completed, I could relax. I moved to a table where I began signing books. Mavis Farmer kept me company. Her grandfather had been killed and buried in France during World War One.

Fay autographs books
Then it is time for several group photographs as Mavis joked that she has never previously had an author as a friend. All the people in these photographs appear as characters in Wildflowers, wilderness and wine.
