Hi Fay,

Yes, every year I will get some white, pink or mauve poppies too. That’s because they are a wild flower which hasn’t been standardised to a pure form.

We have visited the Western Front three times and Gallipoli just last year. I would like to grow a memorial garden in honour of our Uncle 1449 John Drummond Johnston who was killed at Messines 18th july 1917. His original grave was blown up so his name is now on the Menin gate in Ypres, Belgium. Can you tell me where I can buy seeds of the Flander Poppy. We live on 12 acres at Stroud, NSW.

I will be delighted to help you establish your tribute. Write to me at PO Box 86, Glen Aplin Q 4381 and include a stamped, self-addressed envelope and I will send you poppy seed and instructions for planting them. Post a comment
